FIGHT THE GOOD FIGHT

Have you ever wondered if God is real? And how we can be sure of that? We are all looking for explanations about God, and the reason is because deep in our hearts we already know the answer. We look at nature and all of creation and cannot be anything less than skeptical about the Big Bang Theory and the idea that everything came from nothing. The world comes with new ideas about creation, new religions, and new explanations of who God is, but none of them do a good job at clarifying what we long to know. Is God real?

The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork.

Ps 19:1

We can prove the existence of God through general revelation. General revelation is God revealing Himself through His own creation to all people (Ps 19:1).  That means that just by looking at nature everyone can know there is a God. There is no pre requisite or special means needed to acquire the knowledge of the existence of God. Just by looking at the sky and the organized system of stars, planets, and galaxies; or at the ocean and its creative creatures and complex ecosystem, anyone can come to the realization that there is a Creator, and He is God. General revelation does not depend on science. Although the more we study science the more we should understand the universe could not have come from nothing, but it is obvious that everything in existence has an orderly and planned design. The existence of God is perceived from all creatures through all creation.

Although everyone can know about the existence of God, they can’t know the way to salvation. Salvation is only revealed through special revelation, which is how God reveals His will in detail to His people (Heb 1:1-3). In today’s time God reveals his will through the Bible, which is the Word of God and complete revelation for us. There we can find everything we need to know in order to live a godly life (Jn 17:17; 2 Pt 1:3). Nature and all things created will eventually pass away, but the Word of God will stand forever (Isa 40:8).

General revelation was given to us as a testimony of God’s glory, and special revelation was given to us as the means of salvation, a standard of conduct, and authority to us on Earth. We should see the glory of God through nature and desire to know Him more through His Word.
