2 Reasons to Rejoice in God!

“For our heart shall rejoice in Him.”

Psalm 33:21

Psalm 33 is a call for God’s people to sing and rejoice. The Psalter provides several reasons. Let’s talk about two.

“When life hits us hard, pondering on God’s providence in our past brings nothing but comfort and rest to our weary souls.”

First, God’s people ought to rejoice because God is faithful. He is a person they can trust. He keeps his promises. He has proven to his people to be trustworthy in the past, which guarantees the same for their future. When life hits us hard, pondering on God’s providence in our past brings nothing but comfort and rest to our weary souls. Commit your uncertainties to God, and no matter how dark your days are, depend on God’s faithfulness. Life is hard, but God is good. Remember those who sang “Great is Thy faithfulness” in the past. We can still sing it today and tomorrow. So, Rejoice!

“To say God is sovereign means that He controls everything, whether seen or not seen, present or future.”

Second, the Psalter urges God’s people to rejoice because God is Sovereign. To say God is sovereign means that He controls everything, whether seen or not seen, present or future. He is the creator. He rules over the world, the devil, and all circumstances. He oversees every minute of detail in His children’s lives. Because God is sovereign, He causes all things to work for their good and His glory. Is it easy to swallow this truth? Not always, especially when hardships knock on our doors. But we need to remember that difficulties are tests. God tests us because he loves us. He wants to refine us to become like His beloved Son Jesus. What a glorious purpose! Remember that behind every calamity, there is hope. Hope in God being there for you, not against you. For this reason, Rejoice!
